Fundraising Memorial Night, Friday 02/09/11

First of all, I must apologise for the time taken to confirm receipt of your generous support and donation towards the charity night for my son held in September this year.

The night was a great success and we managed to raise £2100.00.

This would not have been possible without your much valued support and generosity and I want to thank you so much for your kindness.

As previously advised, some of the funds will be used to purchase a Memorial bench in Glasgow Botanic Gardens and thankfully this will be sited for Colins’ 26th birthday on 18th December this year. (Unfortunately at this stage I am unable to advise exact location but it will be in the central area within the vicinity of the glasshouses).

Since the charity night I have also attended a meeting of the Justice Committee in Parliament and the Government have agreed “In principal” the law should change to allow FAI’s for Scots who die abroad, the Justice committee will write to the Cabinet secretary to request a timetable for this and no doubt there will be publicity surrounding this when the law does eventually change.

I am also in the process of setting up a support group and am contacting “Families affected by Overseas Bereavement”, our initial meeting will take place in Committee room 6 of the Scottish Parliament on Wednesday 29th February 2012 at  4pm, if you know of anyone who would be interested in attending this event, please give my contact information juliemlove@gmail.com.

The website Colinlove.net is currently being updated and there have been several technical issues however I hope this will be resolved soon and be up and running in the next few weeks.

Once again thank you so much for your generosity.

Regards

Julie Love
